Welcome to our first "from the event" coverage of the Super Chevy Show Series. If you logged on in the last 24 hours, we delivered some highlights of the Super Cruise to Las Vegas, and now you can see a bit of what the "Sin City" version of the Super Chevy Show has to offer.
When it comes to personnel, you may not find a crew that works harder than those from Roger Gustin's AutoStar Productions, promoters of the giant Super Chevy Show Series. An exciting announcement was made during Friday evening's year-end Sponsor and Vendor Appreciation Banquet. Auto Zone has signed on as the event title-rights sponsor, and that's just one example of how the AutoStar crew works to deliver the most enjoyable, family-oriented, automotive events on the planet. The entire staff of Super Chevy magazine welcomes Auto Zone and looks forward to even better things in 2003 and beyond.
The giant Las Vegas Motor Speedway facility began filling up early, as car show participants came from far away to be part of the action. Likewise, bracket racers from surrounding states too numerous to mention already had the expansive pit area buzzing with activity.
In order to deliver these web-exclusive updates, yours truly beat the pavement until early afternoon, and escaped to his hotel to download digital images, chronical the action, and make it live on superchevy-web. Believe me, it's hard to pull out of the gates before the pipes go silent! And with hotel beds never reaching the comfort levels found at home, this page is being created in the wee hours (before and after sunrise) on Sunday morning.
So, without further delay, let's get some images posted and deliver another high-powered highlight of the happenings. Thanks for logging on!
Coming all the way from Wellsville, Kansas, Gene and Lucille Lambert wowed the crowd with their spectacular '64 Chevelle two-door wagon. | Our good friends from Chevrolet always provide an interesting display packed with plenty for the Bow-Tie gearhead to see. | How does an LS1-powered '62 Corvette sound? Bill Verboon of Hanford, California, showed what could be described as the most well detailed version around. |
Bruce Boland offered the morning's first whiff of nitromethane, and his Canadian entry sounded plenty stout in the cool morning air. | Jerry Hicks fired the next volley of thunder with his '63 Corvette split-window coupe. His Crew Chief asked, "What do you think?" My response, "I think I love the smell of nitro in the morning!" | Nitro Coupe tuner extraordinaire, Jeff Brozovich, checked the timing on the Nitro Fish entry before Jim Nordhougen whacked the "Loud Pedal." |
The Goodmark Chevelle was also one of our Super Cruise hot rods, and the folks at Meguiar's really helped rid it of that desert-induced road grime! Thanks, guys. | Craig Hull of H&H Trailers came all the way from Braddyville, Iowa, to bring up the rear on our cruise from California. His brother, Curtis, also made the trek with one of their classy enclosed trailers. The brand-new stainless steel tilt-ramp Craig's showing here is truly something to behold. This one's not only a "looker." it's built to last! Thanks a bunch, Craig and Curtis! | The "Speed Freaks" were also on hand, delivering their "on-the-edge" brand of gearhead radio interviews. These folks get to hang with the coolest cats in motorsports. Check 'em out! |
